FAQs

1) How are certificates of insurance processed?

Producing agents are responsible for servicing all certificates of insurance. Mid Atlantic Insurance Services, Inc. is not responsible for processing certificates of insurance on behalf of policy holders.

2) What if I don’t know the proper workers compensation insurance classification for a particular risk?

The National Council on Compensation Insurance, Inc. is available for assistance if you are unsure about a workers compensation classification. Their toll free number is 1-800-NCCI-123. It is important for all submissions to be properly classified and coded so we fully understand the type of risk we are quoting.

3) How are endorsement requests processed?

You can email or call to speak with a representative. In addition, a few of our insurance carriers have service centers the agent or the insured may call to process an endorsement directly.

4) How are cancellations and non-renewals processed?

When an insurance carrier notifies us of a cancellation or non-renewal we forward, by fax or email, the notice to the agent for him or her to contact the insured. If a carrier non-renews coverage we will do our best to replace coverage and properly notify the agent if coverage cannot be replaced.

5) How are renewals processed?

In most cases, our insurance carriers automatically process renewals. All renewal payments should be sent directly to the insurance carrier. Any policy changes should be forwarded to a representative at Mid Atlantic Insurance Services, Inc.

6) Where do we send down payments?

All down payments, unless specifically noted, are made payable to the insurance carrier. Make installment and renewal payments directly to the insurance carrier.

7) How are commissions paid?

Commissions are paid monthly, the last week of each month, after Mid Atlantic Insurance Services, Inc. receives payment from the insurance carrier. We pay some commissions up front, depending on the carrier, but most often commissions are based on premiums paid by the insured.

8) What are the commission levels?

Commission schedules vary by insurance carrier and line of business, though we are very aggressive and generous in paying out commissions to our agents. We believe in proper compensation for hard work.

9) How do I find out about billing information for my insured clients?

Mid Atlantic Insurance Services, Inc. is responsible for communicating directly with our insurance carriers; therefore, upon request we will make billing inquiries. Please contact us and speak with a representative.

10) Who does my insured contact in case of a claim?

Mid Atlantic Insurance Services, Inc. is not responsible for reporting or recording claims on behalf of an agent or insured. You may locate the claims contact information for a particular insurance carrier from the policy.
